Water Hardness and Your New Appliance

When setting up a water efficient appliance such as a washing machine or dish washer, a consumer might be asked to enter a water hardness number. How do you find out what that number is?

The area served by NTMWD has moderately hard water, and total water hardness of the treated water distributed to the service area varies slightly from month to month. The NTMWD posts a Water Quality Analysis on a monthly basis. On this report, simply find the Total Hardness number for treated water on the latest report and calculate the milligrams per liter or the grains per gallon number - whichever your appliance setting calls for. <<view example>>
