NTMWD continues in a cooperative effort with local cities to provide automotive oil and filter collection containers where residents can properly dispose of used motor oil and filters.
The collection centers are made available to prevent the improper disposal of used motor oil which has the potential to enter and contaminate the lakes, rivers, and streams that are used for drinking water supplies.
Texas law prohibits the disposal of used motor oil into storm drains or onto the ground. It is also illegal to discard the used motor oil in household solid waste.
There are four collection centers provided by NTMWD. Collection Centers are located at the Lookout Drive Transfer Station, Custer Road Transfer Station, Parkway Transfer Station and the 121 Regional Disposal Facility. View locations and hours of operation.
This environmental protection effort by local citizens protects the raw water resources for the District.
The used oil and filter recycling program was funded through a grant from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, therefore, is available to any citizen of Texas.
