We were honored to be recognized by the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) as a Veterans Employer of the Year. This award recognizes organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to employing veterans and leading effective veteran employment initiatives. TVC Commissioner and Marine Corps veteran Chuck Wright was on hand along with several members of the TVC team to present the award to NTMWD.
"This level of commitment to veterans would not be possible without our amazing team of employees," said Jenna Covington, NTMWD Executive Director and General Manager. "It's vital to our organization to provide support to our veterans as they transition to civilian life, and our active Guard and Reservists through their annual travel and training commitments and through potential deployments."
Highlights from NTMWD practices that qualified the organization for this recognition include:
- Workforce of 895 with 8% veterans and 3% veteran new hires.
- 6% of their executive leadership team are veterans.
- Hired a veteran to serve in a newly created position of talent acquisition specialist.
- Provides wholesale water, wastewater and solid waste management services to more than two million people in North Texas.
