Ammonia Leak at Wylie Water Treatment Plant
No injuries, no evacuations, no impacts to water quality
WYLIE, TX – July 20, 2017 — The Wylie Fire Department and crews from the North Texas Municipal Water District have responded to a leaking ammonia storage tank at the NTMWD Wylie water treatment plant. NTMWD crews noticed the leak at approximately 4:00 Thursday afternoon and notified the Wylie Fire Department.
Water treatment operations are continuing with no impacts to water quality or delivery. No injuries have been reported, and no evacuations have been ordered at this time.
Ongoing air monitoring will occur as long as needed. Plano and Richardson Hazmat teams are on site to assist.
