Responsibility Summary

  1. Inspects all phases of construction with emphasis on electrical, to verify conformance with plans, specifications and codes.
  2. Ensure materials and equipment installed conforms to approved submittals, specifications and codes.
  3. Verifies the placing of conduit, steel and concrete in duct banks.
  4. Requires the contractor to provide various tests such as wire testing, switchgear and equipment testing, breaker settings as required by specifications.
  5. Advises the Construction Inspector II or the applicable Supervisor when corrections are not made by the contractor.
  6. Writes a daily report of all activities, weather conditions, work quantities, etc.
  7. Verifies the quantity of work accomplished on each monthly estimate.
  8. Available to the Contractor during all working hours for the purpose of resolving questions that may arise concerning the details of construction.

Basic Requirements

  1. Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, and Utility construction drawings for industrial or municipal facilities.
  2. Texas Journeymen Electrician license preferred.
  3. Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and/or by radio.
  4. Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments.
  5. Must be able to perform mathematical calculations, scale distances from plans, and measure distances on the ground.
  6. Must be able to work constructively with contractors, franchise utility and municipal employees.
  7. Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  8. Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
