Responsibility Summary
- Inspects all phases of construction with emphasis on electrical, to verify conformance with plans, specifications and codes.
- Ensure materials and equipment installed conforms to approved submittals, specifications and codes.
- Verifies the placing of conduit, steel and concrete in duct banks.
- Requires the contractor to provide various tests such as wire testing, switchgear and equipment testing, breaker settings as required by specifications.
- Advises the Construction Inspector II or the applicable Supervisor when corrections are not made by the contractor.
- Writes a daily report of all activities, weather conditions, work quantities, etc.
- Verifies the quantity of work accomplished on each monthly estimate.
- Available to the Contractor during all working hours for the purpose of resolving questions that may arise concerning the details of construction.
Basic Requirements
- Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, and Utility construction drawings for industrial or municipal facilities.
- Texas Journeymen Electrician license preferred.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and/or by radio.
- Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments.
- Must be able to perform mathematical calculations, scale distances from plans, and measure distances on the ground.
- Must be able to work constructively with contractors, franchise utility and municipal employees.
- Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
