George Purefoy is a seasoned public administrator and experienced city manager with a remarkable career spanning over four decades in local government. A native of Texas, he completed his Associate of Arts degree at Weatherford College in 1972 before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1975. He later obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from East Texas A&M in 1978, solidifying his expertise in public sector leadership and governance.
Mr. Purefoy began his professional career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer in Arlington, Texas, from 1973 to 1975. He then transitioned into public administration, serving as Assistant to the City Administrator in Boerne, Texas, from 1977 to 1980. His early work in local government set the foundation for his future leadership roles.
In 1981, Mr. Purefoy became the City Manager of Columbus, Texas, where he served until 1987. His success in Columbus led to his appointment as the City Manager of Frisco, Texas, a position he held from 1987 to 2022. Under his leadership, Frisco experienced rapid growth, transforming from a small town into one of the most dynamic cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Beyond his professional roles, Mr. Purefoy has served on various boards and committees, including the Chambers of Commerce in Commerce, Texas, and Frisco, Texas, as well as the Frisco Education Foundation. He also volunteered as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider in Colorado County, Texas.
