Jody W. Sutherland is an accomplished attorney and public servant whose career spans law, government service, and community leadership across multiple states and countries. Born into a longtime Texas family and a graduate of Denton High School, Mr. Sutherland went on to earn his undergraduate degree and law degree from Baylor University and Baylor Law School.
His professional journey has taken him from Washington, D.C., to Anchorage, Alaska, to Honolulu, Hawaii, before returning to North Texas in 2003. Over the years, Mr. Sutherland has provided legal counsel in Hawaii, Washington State, Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, and Alaska, and served in key government roles, including with the United States Senate Intelligence Committee, as Director of the Health, Education, and Social Services Committee for the Alaska House of Representatives, and as Assistant Campaign Manager in an Anchorage mayoral race. His work has also included federal government contracts involving intelligence-related matters both domestically and internationally.
A committed community leader, Mr. Sutherland has chaired the Princeton Home Rule Charter Commission, led the Anchorage Department of Law transition team, chaired the Anchorage Parks and Recreation Commission, served as legislative staff in the State of Hawaii, and participated in Ukraine aid projects.
In his early years, Mr. Sutherland achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, was a member of the Baylor University tennis team, hosted the “Rights and Remedies” legal radio show, and qualified for the Mensa Society. He now resides in Princeton, Texas, where he continues his dedication to public service.
