Drug Take-Back Events, April 29

On Saturday, April 29, many of our communities are participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. At these events, participants can safely dispose of accumulated expired, unwanted and unused prescription drugs. The service is free and anonymous, and you may not even need to be a resident of the city to participate.

This is a great time to do a little spring cleaning in your medicine cabinet which will help prevent prescription drugs from getting into the wrong hands. It’s also very important from a water quality standpoint. For a long time, people disposed of old medicines by flushing them down toilets or sinks. This is a bad practice because those chemicals can end up in area water sources and ecosystems.

Help us maintain high water quality by disposing of medications properly at one of the following local events:

City of Allen

City of Forney

City of McKinney

City Mesquite

City of Plano

City of Rockwall

City of Wylie

For year-round disposal, visit Drug Enforcement Administration website and enter zip code for a collector location near you.
