We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to be part of our trained State of Texas Master Composter corps. Learn to mix, moisten and manage your yard trimmings and plant-based food waste into a bonanza of “black gold” for your garden. Be a community coach to help your friends and neighbors live and garden more sustainably through composting. Practice your new skills at home and in our demonstration and community gardens.
Our 20-hour, multiple-session virtual training starts on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. We’ll equip you with the knowledge, skills and tools you’ll need to get started composting at home. Once we’re able to safely enjoy public gatherings again, you’ll be part of an essential education team that stages the annual Compost and Gardening Fair, teaching folks in Plano how to make and use compost themselves. Sign up today! It’s free to Plano residents.
Due to the current public health concerns, this year’s training starts with virtual sessions followed by independent study. Hands-on practice in compost building and vermicomposting will be in separate, small group in-person classes structured to ensure social distancing. Don’t miss this once-a-year opportunity to turn over a new leaf (or compost pile) in 2021!
