In 2016, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts began a new initiative to encourage all county and local governments as well as school districts to provide greater transparency in their financial operations called the Transparency Stars program.

Local governments were encouraged to provide clear and meaningful financial information in the areas of traditional finance, debt obligations, public pensions, contracts and procurement, and economic development.

North Texas Municipal Water District is committed to maintaining financial integrity through sound fiscal management and accountability. NTMWD has chosen to participate in the Texas Comptroller’s of Public Accounts’ Transparency Stars program, recognizing local government entities across the state for going above and beyond in their transparency efforts. This is accomplished by providing citizens with clear and meaningful financial information not only by posting financial documents (such as budgets, Comprehensive Annual Financial Report’s, etc.), but also through summaries, visualizations, downloadable data, and other relevant information.
