Looking Back: North Texas Municipal Water District lifts 5 years of drought restrictions

The North Texas Municipal Water District extended its Stage 3 watering restrictions through April at a February meeting, citing continuing drought and low lake levels.

“Our primary water supplies are below normal due to less than average rainfall and the persistent drought,” said Tom Kula, the district’s executive director, at the time. “Before we can lift water restrictions, our reservoirs need several months of average rainfall — enough to significantly raise lake levels.”
