Numerous Community Partners Come Together to Plant 1200 Trees

The Tickey Creek tree planting and riparian restoration took place on November 4, 2022. 1,200 native trees were planted on the banks of Tickey Creek. Over 65 staff and volunteers from the City of Princeton, Texas A&M Forest Service, NTMWD, Master Gardeners, and Master Naturalists planted 600+ seedlings and 600 3-gallon trees. The trees were purchased from the Texas Trees Foundation with a 15K grant from PepsiCo. In addition to the benefit to water quality in Tickey Creek and Lavon Lake, the trees will benefit the community by enhancing natural aesthetics, shade, wildlife habitat, and carbon sequestration.
