Around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021, North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) personnel located a major leak on a section of the 72” Texoma Pipeline west of Denison (near Davy Lane and FM 1417). NTMWD crews immediately mobilized and began repair activities including a full assessment of the damaged pipeline. Work continues around the clock and while significant progress has been made, NTMWD anticipates repair and restoration work to extend into Thursday, September 2. The cause of the leak is under investigation and is unknown at this time.

NTMWD and the Greater Texoma Utility Authority (GTUA) have shared ownership of the Texoma Pump Station and pipeline for the purposes of water supply. NTMWD continues to work in close coordination with the City of Sherman and encourage Sherman residents and businesses to follow the City’s request for emergency water conservation efforts.

Service to NTMWD’s wholesale Member Cities and Customers has not been affected.
