NTMWD One Water Message Shared in Plano with Texas Legends Basketball Clinics

NTMWD and City of Plano education and outreach staff hosted the the Texas Legends for a STEM Basketball Clinic on March 30 at the Oak Point Recreation Center in Plano. Attendees and participants were greeted by NTMWD Water Resource Assistant Bobbi Bryan and City of Plano’s Sr. Environmental Education Coordinator Katie Masucci.

Each family received Water My Yard packets which included a WaterMyYard.org seeded postcard on how to sign up for the service, coloring book, crayons, a Water4Otter.org pencil, toilet leak brochure and tabs and few leaflets on how to conserve water inside and the home. Plano’s sustainability mascot “Owlbert” was also in attendance and handed out soil moisture meters, pet waste bags, pens, and city newsletters.

The STEM clinic is NTMWD’s new program partnership with the Legends, an NBA G League team based in Frisco, that brings science and sports together through a series of water-themed basketball clinics teaching kids about the importance of water conservation while also picking up basketball skills and techniques.

NTMWD continues to host a limited number of these free water-themed STEM clinics in select cities, so make sure to check your city’s parks and recreation department for a date and time near you.
