NTMWD Public Education Lay Up Water Conservation Tips at Texas Legends Games

North Texas Municipal Water District public education and outreach staff attended a couple of Texas Legends basketball games in Frisco to share important water conservation tips and offered registration for the free WaterMyYard.org tool which helps homeowners know when to water and when to wait.

Attendance at the games was part of NTMWD’s new program partnership with the Legends, an NBA G League team based in Frisco, that brings science and sports together through a series of water-themed basketball clinics teaching kids about the importance of water conservation while also picking up basketball skills and techniques.

Developed to be a two-hour event for kids aged six to fourteen, the kids gain new insights into how STEM plays a role in basketball, learn the fundamentals of basketball, participat in interactive activities, and compete in basketball drills. All while having fun and talking about the vital role water plays in our everyday lives!

NTMWD continues to host a limited number of these free water-themed STEM clinics in select cities, so make sure to check your city’s parks and recreation department for a date and time near you. The next clinic is scheduled for March 30 in Plano.
