NTMWD Wins Friend of Conservation Award for Lavon Lake Watershed Protection Plan

Each year the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB), and the Association of Texas Soil and Water Conservation Districts (ATSWCD), recognizes and honors the individuals who dedicate themselves to the conservation of natural resources through the Texas Conservation Awards Program.

As a part of the 2020 Texas Conservation Awards, NTMWD was selected as the Area 5 winner for the Friend of Conservation Award, which covers the Central and North Central Texas Area. This award recognizes the hard work that was conducted and continues to be conducted as part of the Lavon Lake Watershed Protection Plan. The Friend of Conservation Award is awarded to an outstanding individual who has rendered the most unselfish conservation service with their conservation district area.  The Collin County Soil and Water Conservation District plans to honor NTMWD at the Texas Watershed Steward Workshop on March 3.

The Texas Conservation Award Program has nine conservation award categories for which individuals can be nominated and awarded. Texas Conservation Award nominees are selected by their local Conservation District and then sent on to the TSSWCB for judging in the area and state competitions.
