Out & About with NTMWD Public Education & Outreach in February

Rotary Club Presentation: Defend your Drains

Rotary Club of Wylie East Fork invited Helen Dulac, Public Education Manager, to their meeting on February 9th to hear the Defend Your Drains message and the impact of flushables on our wastewater infrastructure. Disposable wipes do not break down like toilet paper and cause clogs in home pipes and sewer pipes. Along with a reminder to throw all wipes in the trash, each person received a Defend Your Drains kitchen kit to protect their plumbing from clog-causing fats, oils, and grease.

Virtual Tour for University of Texas at Arlington Environmental Science Students:

Public Education Manager Helen Dulac, led a virtual Wylie Water Treatment Plant tour to UTA Environmental Science students. They learned about the SCADA system, and all the work it takes to pump water and convey it to our Member Cities. The class continued the tour to see a full Lavon Lake, intake, mixing tanks, sedimentation basins, filters, and NOPS. If you would like to schedule a tour for an educational group, email us today: at publicrelations.info@ntmwd.com.
