Stewart Creek West Plant Expansion

Project Overview

As cities like Frisco continue to attract new businesses and residents, NTMWD must work to help meet the growing demands for water and wastewater services. The Stewart Creek West Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is currently rated as a 5 million-gallons-per-day (MGD) facility, and growing needs require expanding the capacity and operations of this plant. The expansion of the Stewart Creek West WWTP will allow us to treat and discharge up to 10 MGD once the project is completed.

Benefits of Plant Expansion and Improvements include:

  • Better odor control
    • Enclosing primary treatment areas
    • Enhanced odor capture and treatment systems
  • Increased capacity to meet growing community needs and improve reliability
  • Back-up power sources = reduced risk of failures
  • Meet or exceed regulations – more buffer area than state requires (setback of 500 ft)
  • Extending perimeter screening berm

NTMWD is working closely with the City of Frisco to optimize this network of wastewater infrastructure to meet the current and future needs of the community. In addition to expanding our treatment and discharge capacity, the expansion project also will allow NTMWD to transfer flow from Stewart Creek West WWTP to Panther Creek WWTP, a 10 MGD facility also serving the City of Frisco.
