Public Utility Commission New Ruling on Water Facilities Contract

In a decision on April 17, the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC) ordered NTMWD and its 13 Member Cities to have a mediator involved in continued negotiations among the contract parties with the objective to reach a regional solution by the end of this year.

There are many complex issues involved in making changes to the current water supply facilities contract, and NTMWD is encouraged that the PUC is allowing further opportunity for the regional water system partners to come together to work out a solution. NTMWD will do its part to fully support the mediation effort while we also remain focused on the business of providing safe, reliable drinking water for 1.8 million people across North Texas.

The current COVID-19 crisis highlights more than ever the importance of the strength of our regional partnership and the resiliency of our water supplies and the essential infrastructure needed to treat and deliver that water to meet critical public health needs.
