As the Assistant Deputy Director – Water, Billy George oversees all aspects of the regional Water System which includes leading a staff of 105 team members who operate and maintain 6 water treatment facilities, 14 pump stations and hundreds of miles of transmission lines. Nearly 90 communities in north Texas rely on treated water from NTMWD facilities. Billy also directs the District’s water supply planning, resource management and public education programs.
Experience & Background
Billy’s career has spanned both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the NTMWD team, Billy served as the City Manager for the City of Sachse where he oversaw the implementation of the largest roadway bond program, the extension of the President George Bush Turnpike and participated in the most expansive commercial growth period for the city. Recent recognitions he has received include the 2013 Sachse Chamber of Commerce Public Servant of the Year Award and being named the 2012 Engineer of the Year by the Preston Trail Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. Billy resides with his family in Sachse and is active in civic and religious organizations.
