Role

As the Deputy Director – Water and Wastewater, Billy George oversees all aspects of the regional Water and Wastewater Systems.

Water includes operations and maintenance of 6 water treatment facilities, 14 pump stations and over 600 miles of transmission lines. Nearly two million residents in over 80 communities in North Texas rely on treated water from NTMWD facilities. Billy also directs the District’s water supply planning and resource management.

Wastewater includes operations and maintenance of 13 wastewater treatment facilities and a complex wastewater conveyance system. Wholesale wastewater services are provided for 24 cities and 1.3 million people in the North Texas area.

 

Experience & Background

Billy’s career has spanned both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the NTMWD team, Billy served as the City Manager for the City of Sachse where he oversaw the implementation of the largest roadway bond program, the extension of the President George Bush Turnpike and participated in the most expansive commercial growth period for the city. Recent recognitions he has received include the 2013 Sachse Chamber of Commerce Public Servant of the Year Award and being named the 2012 Engineer of the Year by the Preston Trail Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. Billy resides with his family in Sachse and is active in civic and religious organizations.
