UPDATE: Repairs completed on leaking ammonia tank at Wylie water treatment plant

No impact on public health or water treatment operations

WYLIE, TX – July 23, 2017 — Crews from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) have completed repairs on an ammonia storage tank at the NTMWD Wylie water treatment plant
that had been leaking since Thursday afternoon. A leaking gasket was replaced at 4:45 Sunday
morning and the tank has been sealed.

There were no injuries, and water treatment operations continued throughout the repairs with
no impact on water quality or delivery.

NTMWD crews discovered a leaking gasket on one of the ammonia storage tanks at the water
treatment plant at approximately 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20 and notified the Wylie Fire
Department. The leak was significantly reduced by 2:00am Friday and repairs continued
through Sunday morning.
