NTMWD experience treated water pipeline failure in Wylie, Tx

The damaged section of a 60” treated water main in Wylie, Texas has been replaced.  Additional work, including testing of the repaired section is scheduled over the next week.

Water service and quality has not been impacted, and the treated water remains safe to drink and use.

The investigation into the cause of the pipeline break is still underway by NTMWD.


10:45 a.m., Nov. 11, 2020

Repairs are continuing on the treated water pipeline break in Wylie, Texas that occurred Tuesday morning, November 10th. The damaged section of the pipeline will be removed and replaced with a new section of pipeline. It is expected repairs will be completed and the waterline fully returned to service on Thursday.

Water service to the NTMWD Member City and its customers has not been affected and will continue through the duration of the repair period. Water quality has not been impacted, and the water is safe to drink and use.

Investigation into the cause is still underway by NTMWD.

Repairs are underway and will continue through the night to the treated water pipeline break in Wylie, Texas that occurred on the morning of Tuesday, November 10th. Investigation into the cause is still underway by NTMWD.

Water service to the NTMWD Member Cities and Customers who are partially served by this waterline has not been affected. Water service will continue through the duration of the repair period. Water quality has not been impacted, and the water is safe to drink and use.

The District is in contact with the affected homeowners. At this time, there are less than five home structures potentially impacted with the treated water released.

No other updates will be provided today.

This morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, NTMWD experienced treated water pipeline failures.

NTMWD staff is onsite working and monitoring the situation. The District is in contact with state and federal environmental and regulatory agencies.

NTMWD will release more information as it becomes available and continue to update the neighborhood in the area of Gaston and Winding Oaks in Wylie until repairs are complete. Water delivery to the NTMWD service area has not been affected and will continue as normal.
