Financial Benefits

  • Retirement: NTMWD contributes to a Defined Benefit Program, which is based on 3% of career earnings at retirement.  Employees hired after 1/1/18 contribute 5% of their base salary to the plan. NTMWD is also a participant in Social Security. Prior service credits with State, County, Municipal, Other Utility Districts and active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces apply toward retirement eligibility. 
  • Deferred Compensation: NTMWD offers an optional deferred compensation 457B plan in which employees can contribute an additional portion of their salary, before taxes, to a retirement account.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts: NTMWD offers an optional Health FSA and Dependent Care FSA where employees can contribute per paycheck, before taxes, to help pay for medical and dependent care needs.

Health, Wellness and Other Benefits 

  • Health Insurance: NTMWD offers two comprehensive medical plan options that provide coverage for expenses, such as doctor’s office visits, virtual health, preventive care, prescription drugs, and hospitalization. 
  • Chronic Conditions: Through our health insurance, we are proud to provide Teledoc Health for diabetes management and Airrosti for pain management. 
  • Dental Insurance: Our two dental plan options provide coverage for dental expenses, such as cleanings, X-rays, fillings, and orthodontia. 
  • Vision Insurance: NTMWD’s Vision Plan promotes preventive care through regular eye exams and provides coverage for corrective materials, such as glasses, prescription safety glasses, contact lenses.
  • Short-Term Disability Coverage: Our STD benefits replace 60% of your base pay up to $2,000 max per week. Benefits will begin on day 1 for accident or 8 for illness, and could be available for up to 13 weeks. 
  • Long-Term Disability Coverage: This employer paid benefit will replace 60% of base pay, up to a max of $10,000 per month after Short-Term Disability ends. 
  • Basic Life Insurance: Basic life insurance equals annual base salary plus an additional $10,000.
  • Supplemental Life Insurance: NTMWD offers optional additional life insurance coverage to provide financial protection in the event employees or their dependents die while an active employee. 
  • Critical Illness Coverage: Critical Illness insurance pays a fixed one-time benefit amount if covered employee or their dependents are diagnosed with a covered disease or illness. 
  • Identity Theft Protection & Legal Assistance: Employees have access to a discounted identity theft protection program and a legal advice program, including fully covered legal services for a wide range of legal matters.
  • Employee Assistance Program: This confidential service offers free over-the-phone counseling any time, day or night, to help with a variety of personal issues. The program also provides up to 5 free face-to-face counseling sessions for both employees and their covered dependents.

Holidays and Time Off

  • Holidays: Employees receive ten District paid holidays per year. 
  • Vacation: Vacation benefits are available following the 1st full month of employment. Vacation accrual rates in year 1 is 10 hours per month, equivalent to 15 days per year. Vacation accrual amounts increase with years of service, to a maximum of 5 weeks at 16 years of service.
  • Sick Leave: Employees earn 6 hours of sick leave per month, equivalent to 9 days per year. There is no limit to the amount of sick leave that can be accrued. Employees can be compensated for up to 1,000 hours of unused sick leave payable at retirement.
