Bois d'Arc Lake System Phase II

Construction on Phase I of the District's newest water supply, Bois d'Arc Lake, was complete in October 2022, and the Leonard Water Treatment Plant (WTP) became operational in March 2023. It has the capacity to treat up to 70 million gallons of water per day (MGD). As the North Texas region continues to grow, it remains necessary to expand the Bois d'Arc Lake system to meet the anticipated demands.

Key projects for the Bois d'Arc Lake System Phase II include:

  • Leonard WTP expansion to 140 MGD
    • Phase II expands treatment capacity of Leonard WTP from 70 MGD to 140 MGD
    • The expansion is needed to accommodate growth in the service area through 2031
    • Target completion is late 2027
  • Bois d'Arc Lake Raw Water Pump Station Phase II
    • This expansion will increase the pump station (PS) capacity from 90 million gallons per day (MGD) to 142 MGD
    • Current estimates project construction completion and startup in 2Q 2027
    • The Engineer's Opinion of Probable Construction Cost (OPCC) at 100% design is $76.9M
    • Master planning projects the ultimate capacity of this PS to be 236 MGD
  • Leonard WTP High Service Pump Station Phase II
    • This expansion will increase the capacity of the current PS (North) from 90 MGD to 140 MGD
    • Current estimates project construction completion and startup in 2Q 2027
    • The Engineer's OPCC at 100% design is $33,123,000
    • A second HSPS (South) is planned as part of future capacity expansion
    • Master planning projects the ultimate capacity of the North and South Pump Stations to be 175 MGD each
  • Terminal Storage Reservoir
