Board of Directors
Overview
The 13 Member Cities appoint members to the North Texas Municipal Water District Board of Directors, the governing body of the District. Cities with a population greater than 5,000 appoint two members to the Board. Cities with populations less than 5,000 appoint one member to the Board. Each director serves a two-year term, and the appointments are staggered so that each year, one of the two directors is up for reappointment or replacement.
In the earliest years of our history, the Board of Directors played the most critical role in setting the District on a path to long-term success. Our board members, all leaders in their own communities, have historically brought with them an array of professional experience in banking, law, engineering, construction, science, education, and civic leadership. The charter board members worked tirelessly to obtain water rights, pass legislation, secure financing, and manage the operations of the NTMWD. It wasn't until 1954 that they hired the first staff member to take over District operations. Since that time, board members have continued to work diligently to ensure the vitality and success of our region by making sure our cities have the essential services they need to thrive.
